This is an example of a bad website
This website is supposed to inform and educate children and their parents about dogs.

This website really made me very shocked when I clicked on its link. It is so vague, that describing it as vague would be an understatement. It has but a mere image which is supposed to tell its users where to go? To me I think it is absolutely incoherent because it does not have any text instructing or describing to users what the image is for and where it will lead them to by clicking on it. This website's ultimate purpose is to inform its users about dogs. By clicking on the image, it lead me to yet another page, which was slightly more shocking.
From just one image, it now shows two illustrations. Only by clicking on the image will I know that the image on the left is directed to a site more for children and the one on the right for adults. I think the lack of description and information is really what makes this website a bad one. The colour scheme is simply teal and white. If this website, with its rather cute images, is more for children, I don't think the designers did a good job in the layout as well as choosing of colours. To attract the attention of children, the website should be filled with bright colours and games and preferably easy to comprehend information. This way, children as well as their parents can easily comprehend and navigate the site. Therefore this website, in my opinion, is a rather bad one as it does not provide any useful information at all.
How does this apply to my website?
Firstly, I will include more than just illustrations in my website. As it is obvious without text, description and such, users such as myself, will find it very hard to navigate through the website. Furthermore, users might get very irritated and not want to visit my site again and might even go to the extent of telling others how bad the website is. Thus, I will not make the mistake of having only images on my website. Rather, I will include clear description and navigational tools to aid the user.

When I first pondered over this website, I was really amazed and fascinated with its design and great array of colours. The layout, backgroud font sizes and types are very consistent through out the website. The information is very neat and well organized.
For example if I needed to know the latest news about American Idol, I can simply click on the "News" tab or search American Idol on their efficient search engine. By clicking the "News" tab, various types of news will then appear, such as "International News", "Asian News" and "MTV News".
Hence, this makes it very easy for the user to access the various types of news that he may want to browse through. Also, this website does not only promote music, but movies and games as well.
The movies and games are summarized and rated as well so as to give viewers a better and clearer overview of that particular game or movie. In my opinion, I think this is indeed very useful as it assists the viewer in making the right choice.
All the information above shows how efficient this website is. Though it caters specifically to teengagers, if adults were to browse through this site, I'm sure they would find it equally as attractive because of the layout, design and clarity.
How does this apply to my website?
I will try my best to create a website that has a colourful and attractive layout such as this. Making the fonts, background and layout consistent in all my webpages. This will then give my own website a sense of clarity. I will also make it very easy for my users to access information that they may require to navigate through my website. This can be done with by organizing my information and classifying them under various groups so that the user will not have a hard time finding what they need. Thus, the above mentioned website has motivated me to create a website that can measure up to its standards.
